Late summer dresses in BLACK

Outside the window, the sunlight still feels like the height of summer.

Even though the heat continues to be so intense that we can’t get by without air conditioning,

the afternoon shadows have grown longer before we even noticed.

Dusk has also come just a little earlier.

The seasons seem to be quietly moving on to the next phase without sending any dramatic signals.

For such a late-summer dinner table, I’ll prepare a slightly luxurious dish

as a treat for myself for having gracefully weathered the hot season.

A juicy, ripe peach, generously topped with prosciutto and herbs.

Layering sweetness, saltiness, and a subtle bitterness and aroma,

I boldly arrange the colors of late summer on a jet-black plate.

Beside it, a selection of cheeses, each with its own distinct character.

And for this season alone, I’ll serve the red wine slightly chilled.

The glossy black dish vividly highlights both the peach’s pale hue and the green of the leaves,

transforming my usual dining table into a scene that feels just a little bit special.

Precisely because my body is weary from the heat, I’ll gaze upon beautiful things,

savor delicious food,and truly nourish and praise myself.
